  3. How to evaluate if a Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) firm is performing a CUF based on the type of work


  4. How to complete a CUF Monitoring Report Form


  5. What to do if a DBE firm is not performing a CUF

This Commercially Useful Function (CUF) training is required for:

  • Engineering Technicians (all levels)*
  • Assistant Engineers*
  • Professional Engineers (all levels)*
  • Compliance Specialists (all levels)
  • Minority Business Specialists (all levels)
  • Environmental Specialists (all levels)*
  • Transportation Construction Inspectors (all levels)
  • Safety Engineers
  • Regional Local Project Liaisons (various titles, all levels)*

* Those assigned to Construction or Local Programs

Contractors and consultants who perform CUF inspections on behalf of NYSDOT are also required to take this training.
