Sam, Mail and Supply Clerk
Department of Labor

NYS&You: What type of work do you do?

Sam: I distribute and collect mail.

NYS&You: What are you responsible for?

Sam: I have a huge role in our department’s security. Lack of security could result in theft of supplies, postage, mail, and valuable information contained in sensitive mail. I even have an important role in keeping my co-workers safe from biological and chemical threats that can be found in incoming mail.

NYS&You: What advice do you have for your fellow New York State employees?

Sam: Remember that your role is important and that policies and procedures designed to control risks are essential to follow.
