Suspicious Activities: Objects

Recognizing and properly reporting suspicious objects are key to preventing incidents. Types of suspicious objects include packages, devices, and substances.

Suspicious packages can consist of an unattended bag, box, envelope, briefcase, or piece of luggage; the contents of which are unknown. A suspicious package may be one that matches something described in a threat or has a threatening message attached. A suspicious package may have:

Identifying characteristics of suspicious devices are unusual wires or batteries, tanks, bottles, or bags, a clock or timer. Take another look at the photo with the fire extinguisher. Fire extinguishers have designated places and should never be used as a door prop. If you see a fire extinguisher being used to prop a door open you should immediately report this to your supervisor and/or security.
