TSAT Suspicious Activity

Your third responsibility in transporation security is to recognize suspicious activity. Types of suspicious activity include:

Suspicious Telephone Calls
Suspicious Objects, Devices and Packages
Suspicious Vehicles
Suspicious People
Dangerous Activity

A suspicious telephone call is any call that is out of the ordinary, and causes you to ask yourself, "What is really going on here?" Types of suspicious phone calls include:

A direct threat: "There is a bomb planted in the Albany Street Tunnel."
Persistent inquiries about agency operations on a specific project
A series of questions about a facility or property that raise your suspicions

If your phone system has the capability, record the call or have others listen in on the call. Remain calm and be courteous. Listen and respond as though everything is normal. If your phone has caller ID, write down the phone number. When the caller hangs up, immediately write down details of the call, such as date and time, the caller's exact wording, voice, background noise, and language. Immediately notify your supervisor or manager or report the suspicious call to security or the police.
