NYS&You: What type of work do you do?

Tom: I consult on a technology project that will convert existing data into new formats so it can be used more effectively.

NYS&You: What are you responsible for?

Tom: I am responsible for implementing the new computer system. This system will help the agency plan and improve the quality of their services. I must follow strict project planning methods in this type of work. If I do not run my project correctly, I run the risk of going over budget or not completing the project and not giving the staff the tools they need to do the best work that they can.

NYS&You: What advice do you have for your fellow New York State employees?

Tom: When doing your day-to-day job, consider the folks that are impacted by the work you do. This could be the next person in the process, an entire department, or the citizens of New York State. It is important that we do our job right for them.
