A long time ago, documented policies and procedures were an annoyance put in place just as a way to standardize business practices. Today, they are much more than that. Today, policies and procedures are used to help reduce errors, comply with laws, reduce your exposure to fraud and theft, and help you meet your goals. When they are documented, they institutionalize practices, and assist you with successful cross-training and succession training.
