The law and regulations require an agency plan for program review and update at least annually. An agency review is also recommended whenever there has been a significant change to the work location (such as renovations), or when a significant violent incident occurs.
The agency, with participation of the AER, will conduct a review of filed incident reports to identify trends in the types of incidents in the workplace and review the effectiveness of the mitigating actions taken.
The Bureau of Human Resources Management and BASS, in partnership with local union representatives, will annually review and evaluate the effectiveness of the Department’s Workplace Violence Prevention Program. The review will focus on incident trends or factors which have come to light and which require amendment of the policy or program. An assessment of the effectiveness of control measures and reporting will also be conducted. A review will also occur immediately following the occurrence of a serious incident or series of incidents, for example: an injury requiring more than basic first aid or repeat incidents that occur over a short time frame. The Health and Safety Committee will serve as a forum for general discussion of issues pertaining to workplace violence. All employees are encouraged to bring matters of concern to the attention of committee members.
